On October 10th, the Yangtze River Delta Synthetic Biology Industry Innovation Park opened in Changzhou National High tech Zone, creating a source of innovation for the synthetic biology industry and constructing the "Synthetic Biology Port" in the Yangtze River Delta. The Yangtze River Delta Synthetic Biology Industry Innovation Park is located in the Changzhou Life and Health Industry Park. It is jointly built by the Changzhou Municipal People's Government, the Changzhou High tech Zone Management Committee, and Nanjing Normal University. With the Nanjing Normal University Synthetic Biology Industry Research Institute as the industry incubation platform, it has built a comprehensive, integrated, open, and shared scientific and technological innovation platform, and constructed a cutting-edge key technology innovation, achievement incubation and transformation of the industry The innovation chain of green industry demonstration aims to gather high-level innovative and entrepreneurial talents, promote the development of the synthetic biology industry, and create a billion dollar industry.

At the ceremony, 20 key projects were collectively signed with a total investment of 950 million yuan, including technology talent projects such as DHA and EPA functional oils introduced by the Research Institute of Nanjing Normal University, which have complete processes, high added value, can replace the original manufacturing route, and achieve sustainable "circular" production mode. Additionally, they were successfully selected as the first batch of biomedical materials by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, as well as a batch of high-tech and high growth projects such as sports medicine woven implant materials and absorbable implants Industrialized projects with high returns and promising capital.

At the same time, the Yangtze River Delta Synthetic Biology Industry Innovation Park has established a special fund for the synthetic biology industry of 2 billion yuan and a park development fund of 200 million yuan, establishing connections with Changzhou Medical Device Association, Nanjing University Biomedical Industry Alumni Association, Suzhou Biomedical Industry Alliance, and other units to build cooperation bridges.

In recent years, the development momentum of our city's biopharmaceutical industry has been strong, with a number of innovative technology enterprises such as Changmao Biochemical, Chuangjian Medical, and Changzhou Institute of Pharmaceutical Research, as well as high-quality synthetic biology industry technology platforms such as the Changzhou Institute of Synthetic Biology at Nanjing Normal University, Changdang Lake Institute of Engineering Biology at Huada University, and the "Provincial Recombinant Protein Manufacturing Engineering Laboratory" at Changzhou High tech Research Institute at Nanjing University. As of the end of 2022, there are 202 enterprises in the biopharmaceutical industry in the city, achieving a production value of 55.82 billion yuan, of which the manufacturing of biopharmaceutical products achieved a production value of 3.98 billion yuan. Changzhou National High tech Zone focuses on the synthetic biology industry and actively grasps the development trend of the industry. The Changzhou Life and Health Industrial Park has signed contracts to settle 28 industrial projects, including Wuming Kangde Hequan Pharmaceutical, Yangzijiang Zilong Pharmaceutical, Lianying Medical Technology, Qianhong Biochemical, and Yipeisheng, with a total investment of over 30 billion yuan.
