Jiangsu  Jintan Province Economic Development Zone is a provincial economic development zone approved by the People's Government of Jiangsu Province in 1993. It is located in the east of the city with superior location and convenient transportation. It covers an area of 171 square kilometers and a planned industrial area of 66 square kilometers. There are 2,448 enterprises of all kinds, including more than 2,000 industrial enterprises and 468 commercial enterprises. There are 190 foreign-funded enterprises. It has successively won a series of awards such as "China's Top Ten Economic Vitality Development Zones", "China's New Materials Industry Demonstration Base", "China's Top 100 New Energy Industrial Parks", "Jiangsu Provincial Ecological Industrial Park", "Jiangsu Province Low Carbon Economy Pilot Unit", and has become one of the attractive provincial economic development zones in the Yangtze River Delta.

In recent years, focusing on the national development strategy of emerging industries, combined with the actual development zone, actively encourage and support traditional industries such as clothing, mechanical and electrical, salt and chemical industry to develop core technologies, improve the level of equipment, extend the industrial chain, expand the industrial scale, achieve product upgrading, and promote the transformation and upgrading of enterprises from traditional industries to emerging industries. On this basis, the development zone gathers various elements and concentrates its strength to highlight the three emerging industrial sectors of new energy, new materials and new equipment.
